Erikson's Stages  of PsychoSocial Development

Erik Erikson taught the 8 stages of development in which he explains the critical points at each age in order to develop into a psychologically healthy individual. Taking into account my proposal that school age and adolescence children would be the focus of the study, it would be important not only to educate teachers but also parents on what their children are going through psychologically and what they need in each stage in order to develop into emotionally healthy adults.

With the help of neuroscientists, Goldie Hawn started the MindUp program for schools. This program starts with kindergartners and continues through high school and educates students on using mindfulness in their everyday lives. Children are taught how their brain works and how to use mindfulness techniques in their day to day lives. Teachers are trained in mindfulness and educated on the science behind breathing techniques and brain function so that they are equipped to support and facilitate daily mindfulness techniques with their students. Research has shown a decrease in bullying, psychological disorders such as depression, and an increase in ability to focus, self-control, and even an improvement in academics.

My proposal would integrate a system like MindUp with the addition of relationship training. The intention would be that students would be better equipped from the mindfulness to learn and understand healthy verses unhealthy relationships.
